Premier Steven Marshall has announced relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions will start on Monday 11 May, under stage one of the federal government’s road to recovery plan.
Swimming pools will be allowed to reopen with social distancing conventions in place and the limit on funeral attendance will be raised to 20 people indoor and 30 people outdoors.
Churches, real estate auctions and inspections, community clubs and non-contact sport training can open with a limit of 10 people.
Face-to-face classes at University and TAFE can begin and caravanning and camping can resume in regional areas.
It is hoped that stage two of easing restrictions will begin in June, with cinemas and theatres, cafes and restaurants, galleries, museums and gyms allowed to open for groups of up to 20 people.
In a press conference today, 8 May, Prime Minister Scott Morrison outlined a three-stage plan for lifting restrictions and getting back to business by July.
He says that individual states will determine their own rates of progress, based on their different circumstances, within the parameters of his overarching plan.
Stage one includes allowing regional travel, raising the number of home visitors to five and the number of people allowed to gather outside to 10.
Libraries and community centres will also be able to reopen under stage one.
South Australia already permitted outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people, but regions including Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula will benefit from the lifting of intrastate travel restrictions, previously flagged by Premier Steven Marshall.
Interstate borders are likely to remain closed until stage three of the plan, limiting the benefit to regional tourism.
