Police investigate McLaren Vale stabbing

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in McLaren Vale last night (Tuesday 9 June).


Just before 7pm, police and paramedics were called to a home on Bond Street after reports of a serious assault.


Sadly when patrols arrived they found an 81-year-old man deceased at the scene and a 78-year-old woman with serious injuries. The woman was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition.


A 22-year-old man known to the couple was detained by police at the home. He has been arrested and charged with murder and attempt murder. The man has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 10 June).


Major Crime officers attended the scene to assist Southern District Criminal Investigations Branch Detectives with the investigation.


The incident is not considered random and all parties are known to each other.
