A short time later the motorbike was spotted being ridden in a reckless manner within the township.

All four have been bailed with strict conditions to the Mount Barker Magistrates and Youth Courts in October.

Lock it or lose it - warning to car owners

Car owners are being reminded to lock their vehicles following an increase in thefts from cars in the last month.

For the month of August there was an increase of nearly 200 reported thefts from cars in the southern suburbs.

Thefts from motor vehicles account for almost 2000 offences reported year to date in the Southern District.

While some vehicles have been locked, personal items have been left visible. A large number of vehicles however have been left unlocked with valuable items left within. The theft of tools from tradesmen's toolboxes connected to vehicles is also a current issue in the southern suburbs.

The public is reminded to ensure all vehicles are locked and that valuables are removed or placed out of sight, as even a small amount of coins visible could be enough to entice a person to break into a vehicle.

Police encourage the marking of personal property with driver's licence details, preceded by 'S' for South Australia. E.g. S123456.

If you observe any suspicious behaviour or have property stolen from your vehicle, report it immediately to police by calling the Police Assistance line on 131 444.

If you have any information regarding stolen property or theft please contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
