Police news on the Fleurieu

Hills Fleurieu Police detected the following traffic offences over the past week:

Just after 9am on Monday 16 September on Telegraph Road, Kingscote, police stopped a 44-year-old man from Kingscote. The man was drug tested and returned a positive result to methamphetamine. Depending on forensic analysis results he will be reported at a later date. He was issued a driver direction notice preventing him driving for 24 hours and had his vehicle defected.


Just after 6.30pm on Monday 16 September, police stopped a vehicle on Battunga Road, Echunga after observing it swerving all over the road. The driver, a 55-year-old woman from McLaren Vale submitted to an alcohol test. She returned a positive reading of 0.186 and was reported for driving under the influence and with a prescribed concentration of alcohol. She will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date. She was also issued a 12-month instant loss of license and had her vehicle impounded for 28 days.


Just after 5pm on Friday 20 September, police stopped a vehicle on Echunga Road, Echunga for speeding.  The driver, a 42-year-old man, also tested positive to cannabis and was issued with a direction not to drive for 24 hours. The sample was sent for forensic testing.


About 9.30am on Sunday 22 September, a 36-year-old McCracken man tested positive to methamphetamine when pulled over on Tottenham Court Road at Port Elliot. The sample was sent for forensic testing.

Hills Fleurieu police are asking for assistance for the public, in locating a vehicle involved in an incident on Monday 16 September at Hay Flat.

Police would like the public to report any sightings of a distinctive 1997 Nissan Patrol. The vehicle has been spray painted green and was last known to have a registration plate on the front displaying WKH804, and the rear displaying FBC202.

The vehicle has been sighted in the Hay Flat area on numerous occasions and police ask anyone travelling through the area to contact them on 131444 if they see it.


Middleton car theft

Hills Fleurieu Police are pleading with the public to ensure they secure their vehicle keys after another car has been stolen from Middleton.

Between 11am and 2pm on Wednesday 18 September, a white VW Transporter van was stolen from Padman Crescent, while the owner was surfing. Thieves gained access to the vehicle using the keys, which were 'hidden' in the car.

Police have since recovered the vehicle however the owner’s possessions and mobile phone were stolen from inside.

This is part of a series of similar events occurring in the area and police are urging the public to be vigilant and secure their vehicle keys appropriately.

Suspicious activity in the area should be reported to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 at the time so a patrol can be tasked.
