Here is a round-up of the latest police news on the Fleurieu.


Fatal crash in Hindmarsh Valley

A woman has died following a crash at Hindmarsh Valley this morning.

Just before 5am Monday 11 November, police and emergency services were called to Nettle Hill Road near the intersection of Hindmarsh Tiers Road after a car collided with a tree and burst into flames.

Sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the car, believed to be a woman aged in her 40s, died at the scene.

Nettle Hill Road is completely blocked between Hindmarsh Tiers Road and Reservoir Road while Major Crash Investigators are at the scene.

The woman’s death takes the State’s road toll to 95, compared to 63 at the same time last year.


Charity Theft at Aldinga Beach

Police are investigating a break in at a fast food restaurant at Aldinga Beach this morning where a charity tin was stolen.

About 2am Sunday 10 November a man allegedly gained entry to a fast food outlet on Pridham Boulevard. While inside the suspect used an angle grinder to steal a charity donations tin and left the premises on foot with a small amount of change.

Predator arrested

Detectives from SAPOL’s Public Protection Branch yesterday arrested a 36-year-old man from the Fleurieu Peninsula for two counts of communicating with a child to make them amenable to sexual activity.

The man was bailed to appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court on 2 December.

Strath thefts

Police are investigating thefts in the Strathalbyn where two cars were stolen last weekend.

Between 6.30pm, Friday 1 November and 7.30am, Saturday 2 November a sliver Nissan Navara was stolen from a home in Glenalbyn Close. It was located abandoned in Strathalbyn on Saturday afternoon. Two people were seen running from the car.

Between 10.30pm, Friday 1 November and 7am, Saturday 2 November, a shed on East Terrace was broken into and a white Toyota Hi-Lux Utility was stolen SA registration WHX681

Traffic roundup

Police stopped a car on Angas Place at Strathalbyn about 2.40am on Thursday 7 November, after checks revealed that the car was unregistered and uninsured. Checks on the driver’s licence also revealed that she suspended from driving.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman from Strathalbyn, was reported for driving unregistered, uninsured and while suspended, and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.


About 11.45am on Friday 8 November on Wedgewood Road at Parndana, police stopped a 44-year-old man from Kangaroo Island for a random driver test. The man refused to comply with police directions to undergo the alcotest and was reported for this offence. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.


About 11.03pm on Friday 11 November, a 21-year-old man from McCracken was stopped by police on Excelsior Parade, Hindmarsh Island. He underwent a breath test that returned a positive reading of 0.082. He was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
