Youths to face court after break-in
Hills Fleurieu Police appreciate the ongoing support of the public, which resulted in the quick arrest of youths for a break-in in Strathalbyn last week.
Between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday 25 February four juveniles were seen by members of the public on the roof of a bank on Albyn Terrace. An investigation revealed a shed at the rear of the property had been broken into and property had been removed and thrown around the rear yard.
Police viewed footage provided by members of the public and subsequently arrested three juveniles. Two 12-year-olds and a 14-year-old were charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, being unlawfully on premises and failing to comply with a bail agreement.
The 12-year-old boy from Strathalbyn was refused police bail and has been remanded to appear before the Adelaide Youth Court on Tuesday 3 March.
The 14-year-old boy of no fixed place and the 12-year-old Murray Bridge boy were granted bail to appear in the Mount Barker Youth Court on Wednesday 22 April.
Enquiries continue in relation to the fourth juvenile suspect. Police ask anyone who has information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Fatal cyclist crash near Strathalbyn
A woman has died following fatal crash near Strathalbyn last Tuesday morning.
About 6.30am, 25 February, a car and cyclist collided on Nine Mile Road at Willyaroo.
The cyclist, a 44-year-old woman from Strathalbyn, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre. Sadly she died from those injuries on Friday.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Nine Mile Road was closed between Collett Road and Roper Road for several hours.
This year 17 lives have been lost on the state’s roads, which is the same amount as this time last year.

Quick work by police leads to arrests after Goolwa South assault
Two people have been arrested following an assault and break-in at Goolwa South early last Tuesday morning.
Just after 2.10am, Tuesday 25 February, the occupant of a Heinicke Avenue home awoke to find a man in his kitchen. The suspect confronted the victim and punched him in the face several times. The suspect ran from the house heading towards a nearby reserve, where items from the victim’s home were found.
SA Ambulance Officers conveyed the elderly victim to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment of serious facial injuries.
Following an investigation, a 17-year-old boy from Goolwa South has been arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, assault causing harm and theft. The arrested youth has been bailed to appear in the Victor Harbour Youth Court on 4 March.
During the investigation a 45-year-old man from Goolwa South was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after police allegedly located items belonging to the victim.
The man was bailed to appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court on 6 April.
