Update: Cross Border Travel No 9 - COVID-19 Directions 2020
An update has been made cross border travel restrictions in South Australia.
The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 8) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 9) (COVID-19) Direction 2020. This new Direction comes into effect at 0001 Sunday 19 July 2020.
This Direction creates:
Mandatory COVID-19 Testing
A requirement for persons travelling from NSW, ACT and VIC, and returning South Australians who are non-essential travellers to undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing on days 1 and 12 after entry into South Australia.
This direction is retrospective thus requiring a person who entered into South Australia from NSW, ACT and VIC after 12.01 am on 8 July 2020 and is required to quarantine, to undertake a COVID-19 test on day 12 of their quarantine.
This requirement does not apply to essential travellers or persons under the age of 16 years.
A person must not refuse or fail to comply with a reasonable requirement or direction to undertake the test.
This does not preclude any person from seeking a COVID-19 test, which is highly recommended.
Removal of provision to move to South Australia
The provision permitting a person to move to South Australia to reside has been removed.
Wearing of Mask
The wearing of a surgical mask by certain travellers has been clarified, requiring certain essential travellers to wear a mask any time during the 14-day period, commencing upon the date of their arrival when they come into contact with the public, or while they are in transit within South Australia.
This does not preclude any person from wearing a mask when in contact with the public.
A document has been produced explaining the requirements of all Essential Travellers. This can be located online.
