Here is a summary of the latest police and emergency services news on the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island.


Four arrested over abduction and assault 


Three men and a south coast woman have been arrested after they allegedly abducted, assaulted and robbed a man known to them at Oaklands Park.


Police will allege at about 8pm on Friday 16 October, a group of four people allegedly lured the man to a home at Oaklands Park, assaulted him, stripped him of his clothing and then forced him to transfer money from his bank account.


The group then contacted a relative of the victim's and demanded they bring jewellery and clothing to an Oaklands Park address or they would stab the victim.


Southern District Police were contacted over the incident and just after 11.30pm located the 21-year-old male victim inside a house in Lucknow Street.


Also at the premises were a 24-year-old man from Happy Valley, a 20-year-old woman from McCracken and two men aged 35 and 38-years-old from Oaklands Park.

  

They have all been arrested and charged with abduction, unlawful detention, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. They have all been refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today, Monday 19 October.


The victim didn't require medical treatment and was conveyed to his home address of Christie Downs by police.


Police wish to reinforce that this incident is not random and it involved persons known to each other.


Man charged over Aldinga Beach arson 


A man has been charged with two counts of arson after he allegedly set fire to two cars at Aldinga Beach back in early September.


At around 9pm on Tuesday 1 September, a man and woman approached two cars parked outside a house on Follett Street, allegedly poured accelerant over them and then set them alight.


The two suspects then run off towards a waiting white vehicle, possibly a Mitsubishi Magna.


On Tuesday 13 October, Southern District Police interviewed a 25-year-old man from Northfield, then arresting and charging him with two counts of arson. He appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 14 October, where he was remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.


Police enquiries continue in order to locate the second suspect, who is believed to a woman.

Fatal crash in Meadows


Police are investigating a fatal crash at Meadows last week.


Just after 11pm on Thursday 15 October, patrols and emergency services were called to Brookman Road, after a fuel tanker left the road and rolled before catching on fire.


The driver and sole occupant, a 59-year-old man from Echunga, sadly died at the scene.


There have been 71 lives lost on SA roads, compared to 86 at this time last year.


Suspicious fire at Yankalilla


Police are investigating after two sheds and a car were deliberately set alight on a Yankalilla property.


Just before 5am on Wednesday 14 October, police and emergency services were called to Kemmiss Road at Yankalilla after reports of two sheds on fire.


Fire crews quickly attended and it took them just over an hour to put out the two shed fires that were located in the middle of the property.


At the same time a car at the rear of property was also set alight which was quickly extinguished.


Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the fires however police believe they were deliberately lit.

Drivers fined during Operation Return to School


Police have issued almost 100 expiation notices during a statewide traffic operation around school zones.


Operation Return to School was conducted on Monday 12 October and Tuesday 13 October, during peak drop-off times of 8am to 9am, and peak pick-up times of 2.45pm to 3.45pm with a high visibility police presence to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians around schools.


Police visited 257 schools across South Australia, with 98 expiation notices issued for various offences including speeding, using a hand-held mobile phone while driving and failing to wear a seatbelt.


Three drivers were caught with drugs in their system, and they may face further penalties once their drug sample has been forensically analysed.


Superintendent Bob Gray, officer in charge of Traffic Services Branch says: “Getting to school safely, whether by car, as a pedestrian or riding a bicycle is the right of every student. 


“It is of great concern to police that some drivers choose to ignore the road rules and speed, use a mobile phone or have drugs in their system while driving, particularly near a school.


“Anyone who sees dangerous driving near a school, or at any time is urged to call the Police Assistance Line immediately on 131444 and make a traffic complaint.”
