Police save man in house fire at Aldinga Beach

The quick-thinking actions of two police officers at Aldinga Beach saved an elderly man this morning after his house caught fire.


Just before 2.30am on Friday 24 January, police and emergency services were called to Bristol Street to reports of a house fire.


Police were quickly on scene and observed smoke coming from a front room and could hear a man coughing inside.


The patrol officers entered the smoke-filled premises where they located a 71-year-old man with mobility issues and carried him from the premises.


They returned to the house put out the blaze with the fire extinguisher from the police car.


CFS attended and vented the premises.


The victim was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.


The cause of the fire has been deemed non suspicious.
