Port Elliot Caravan Park redevelopment plansHorseshoe Bay at Port Elliot

The operators of the Port Elliot Caravan Park have applied for planning permission to construct 17 “tourist accommodation units” and install a waterpark, swimming pool, new playground and a jumping pillow.

A concept plan provided to the Ratalang Basham Beach and Horseshoe Bay Advisory Committee in May says the park’s operators, Caravan Park Escapes, plan to build the pool and waterpark near the existing jumping pillow. The new cabins would then be built around this area.

The new jumping pillow and playground would move to the south of the camp kitchen.

The existing playground equipment would be demolished.

The plan’s designers, MasterPlan SA, say it is their client’s intention, “to ensure that the Port Elliot Caravan Park continues to provide a high level of amenity for visitors through the regular upgrading and modernising the accommodation buildings and leisure facilities.”

“Reinvestment in the caravan park is important to ensure its reputation is retained as a pleasant and comfortable tourist destination that integrates effectively with the beautiful surrounds of Ratalang Basham Beach Conservation Reserve and Horseshoe Bay.”

“With this endeavour, our client is proposing to provide additional cabins within the caravan park and to upgrade the leisure and playground facilities.”

The proposal will be considered by the Fleurieu Regional Assessment Panel.

The Panel meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held on October 19.
