A kitchen fire has caused more than $150 000 damage to the Hotel Elliot in Port Elliot.
Luckily, a passer-by noticed flames coming from the roof of the hotel at around 2.30am and notified emergency services.
Three Country Fire Service units and the Metropolitan Fire Service attended the fire which started in the kitchen of the hotel and then broke through the roof.

The hotel's management says they will be temporarily closed "until further notice due to an electrical fire that occurred last night that has caused damage to the building including the main kitchen area".
The CFS estimates that the fire has caused more than $150,000 damage.
The hotel is currently undergoing a $1.7M expansion to become a function and training centre with a training kitchen, bars, outdoor dining, deck, toilet facilities, carpark and tourist information and visitor centre.
The expansion is being partly funded by a $500 000 grant from the State Government’s Tourism Industry Development Fund.
