Located on the cusp of the Fleurieu, the beautiful mid-coast town of Port Noarlunga will come alive with blues tunes this weekend (22-24 November).
Kicking off this afternoon (Friday) with a 2pm gig at The Flour Store, the Port Noarlunga Blues Festival will see shows held at 15 venues, including cafes, restaurants, clubs, the local bakery and hotel.
Dozens of artists including homegrown talent from the local area, and soloists and bands from across South Australia, Australia and the world will perform across the weekend, some of them multiple times. Artists include multi-instrumentalist Rusty Bonnett from the tiny coastal Eyre Peninsula town of Arno Bay; Swedish-born Chapman Stick player Andy Salvanos; and The Chairmen, featuring the former frontman of Aussie Blues icons The Barflys and Boof Power; plus many more acts.
Comprising both daytime and evening gigs, most shows across the weekend are free to attend, while there is a $10 door fee for club gigs.
The main event will be Sydney-based Ray Beadle Band at the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre on Saturday 23 November at 7pm. It’s a ticketed event, with tickets for $40 available online at www.trybooking.com/BDFRO.
Ray Beadle is a regular on the Australian blues festival circuit and has played at premier venues such as The Basement in Sydney, and The Empire Hotel in Annandale where Ray and The Vipers have been a resident band every Thursday night. He has played in venues such as BB King’s Club in Memphis and Buddy Guy's Blues Club in Chicago. The show will also feature support acts Lazy Eye Band and Simon Kinny-Lewis Band.
