Port Noarlunga on the move in the Southern Football League

Port Noarlunga moved up to fourth spot on the ladder following their 36-point win against Cove during round six action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. The Cockle Divers played a good first half to lead by 30 points at the long break. The second half was even, with each side kicking four goals, as Port Noarlunga won 12.11 (83) to Cove 7.5 (47). Clint Calyun kicked three goals for ‘Porties’, while Jonah Dolman, Aaron Petersen, and Nick Steele all kicked two goals. Best players for the Cockle Divers included Liam O’Connor-Dawkins, Rhys McKay, Hamish Goss, Jesse-Jay Vaughan, and Tyler Hathaway. The Cobras’ best were Aaron Wordsworth, Jack Riddle, Ben Morrison, William Moore, and Michael Galley.


Reigning premier Reynella are up to third spot on the ladder after defeating Happy Valley by 30 points. The Wine Flies won every quarter as they clinched victory 13.11 (89) to 8.11 (59). Marc Borholm kicked three goals for Reynella, while Tyler Davies and Callan Semple kicked two goals each. Corey Grocock and Liam Hamilton also kicked two goals each for the Vikings. Best players for Reynella were Sam Whitbread, Borholm, Brad Thompson, Dylan Roser, and Lachlan McGuinness. Josh Dwyer-Sterzl, Tate Coleman, Joe Skinner, Harry Vick, and Tain Smelt were best for Happy Valley.


Noarlunga remained undefeated following a comfortable 58-point win at Aldinga. The first quarter was tight with scores level at the first break, before the Shoes kicked six goals to one in the second term to lead by 32 points at the long break. A further five goals to one in the second half saw Noarlunga win 13.10 (88) to 4.6 (30). Jamie Grosser kicked four goals for the Shoes, while Jamison Snelling, Tom Anderson, and Terry Kathopoulis kicked two majors each. Bailey Hann, Jake Anderson, Snelling, Jarrad Liebelt, and Josh Beard were named as best players for Noarlunga, while for Aldinga, Mitch Jarrett, Harrison Jarman, Bailey Pilmore, Tyler Stewart-England, and Ishmael Palmer were named their best players. 


Flagstaff Hill survived a scare to remain undefeated and top of the ladder, after defeating Morphett Vale by five points yesterday. The Emus started well to lead by 16 points at quarter time, before ‘Flaggies’ hit back to take a 17-point advantage at halftime. The Emus kicked five goals to one in the third term to lead by five points at the last change. The Falcons were kicking to the scoring end in the final term, and they kicked three goals to two to win 9.17 (71) to 10.6 (66). Sam Jacobs kicked four goals for ‘Flaggies’, while Scott Bedford and Blake Carter kicked three goals each for the Emus. Best players for the Falcons were Sam Burbridge, Jacobs, Adam Bunworth, Aiden Grayson, and Ethan Johnson. Aiden Baker, Bodie Sowter, Brian Gill, Bedford, and Braydan Hartwig were named best for Morphett Vale.
