Reigning premiers Port Noarlunga are through to the second semi-final after defeating Flagstaff Hill by 13 points in the Qualifying Final of the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Morphett Vale yesterday. The game was tight throughout with Flagstaff Hill holding a slender one-point lead at the final change. However, ‘Porties’ finished best, kicking the only two goals of the last term, to win 7.5 (47) to 5.4 (34). Kalahni Howes kicked four goals for the Cockle Divers, while Jessica Couch and Melanie Koster kicked two goals apiece for the Falcons. Best players for Port Noarlunga included Maddy Craggs, Schanna L'Estrange, Nicole Campbell, Howes, Eilish O’Hanlon and Elizabeth Tracey. Flagstaff Hill’s best were Emma Hodgson, Sienna Chapman, Tiana Lush, Brooke May, Koster and Ebony Scanlan.
Reynella has made their way through to the second week of the finals series after defeating Blackwood by 22 points in the elimination final at Aldinga yesterday. Sarah Bourne kicked five goals to fire the Wine Flies to an 8.8 (56) to 5.4 (34) victory. Tayla Wright was named best-on-ground for Reynella and she received good support from Sienna Garner, Miller Thompson, Tabitha Melders, Bourn and Isabella Ridings. Best players for Blackwood included Caitlin Hill (2 goals), Lily Brook, Olivia Emes (2 goals), Jade Quinn, Rileigh Abbott and Holly Winchester.
