'Porties' remain undefeated in the Southern Football League

Port Noarlunga continued their undefeated start to the season following a 100-point victory over Aldinga during round three action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at ‘Porties’ yesterday. Port Noarlunga led by 45 points at halftime, before kicking a further 10 goals to two in the second half to win 22.13 (145) to 6.9 (45). Vice-captain Nicholas Steele won the ANZAC medal with a seven-goal performance, while Gary Karpany also played an excellent game with five goals. Other good players for the Cockle Divers were Nathaniel Paredes, Eduard Van den berg, Ben Currie and Joshua Johns. Jayden Scott kicked three goals for Aldinga, while their best players included Samuel Bentley, Tom Pilmore and Angus Stangewitz. 


Flagstaff Hill bounced back from defeat in round two with a crushing 140-point win against Noarlunga. The Falcons led by 44 points at quarter time, 66 points at halftime, and 98 points at the last change, before winning 24.12 (156) to 2.4 (16). Blake Aldridge kicked nine goals in a best-on-ground performance for ‘Flaggies’, while Nathan Beenham kicked four majors. Tom Anderson kicked both the goals for the Shoes. Other good players for the Falcons included Reece Milsom, Ethan Johnson, Zakaria Cavouras, Ryan Mountford and Mitchell Johnson. Nick Mott, Jamison Snelling, Sammual Miller and Jarrad Liebelt were best for the Shoes.


Reynella continued their undefeated start to the season after a comfortable 67-point home win against Happy Valley. The game was effectively over at halftime as the Wine Flies opened up a 57-point lead. The second half was tighter as Reynella came away with a 16.12 (108) to 6.5 (41). Harrison Pope (4), Luke Cooper (3), Talon Copley (2) and Brad Potter (2) were the leading goalkickers for Reynella, while Liam O’Connor and Dwayne Ruddock each kicked two goals for the Vikings. Best players for Reynella included Daniel Whitaker, Potter, Jack Ball, Copley, Luke Cooper and Tyler Davies. Jeramy Cameron-Clay, Jayden Little, Jack Flett, Ruddock and Nicholas Frisby-Smith were named best for Happy Valley.


Ironbank Cherry Gardens won their second game in a row following a thrilling four-point win against an inaccurate Christies Beach at Cherry Gardens yesterday. The game was tight throughout with the Thunderers taking a two-point lead into the final term. Christies Beach peppered the goals in the last term but could only manage 1.7, as Ironbank Cherry Gardens triumphed 15.15 (105) to 13.23 (101). Nick Marshall kicked five goals for the victors, as did Jace Daris for Christies Beach. Best players for the Thunderers were Ben Marsh, Jake Pokoina, Tyler Quinn, Bradley Kreuger, Chris Morgan and Conor Lidstone. Joining Jace Daris in the best players for the Saints were Austin Hogg, Michael Mazey, Kyle Daris, Mackenzie Nield and Shannon Archbold.


Cove Cobras moved up to fourth spot on the ladder after defeating Morphett Vale by 18 points at Hallett Cove yesterday. Morphett Vale started well to lead by 18 points at halftime, before the Cobras hit back to lead by four points at the long break. The Cobras kicked six goals to three in the second half to win 14.9 (93) to 10.15 (75). Ryan Need kicked six goals in a best-on-ground performance for Cove, while Lincoln Holder slotted four majors for the Cobras. Blake Carter kicked four goals for the Emus. Joining Need in the best players for Cove included Adam Kleinig, Holder, Aaron Wordsworth and Jayj Butler-Chaseling. Robert Schindler-Taylor, Aiden Baker, Braydan Hartwig, Carter, Daniel Bode and Connor Panozzo were named best for Morphett Vale.
