'Porties' secure double chance in Southern Football

Port Noarlunga wrapped up the double chance after defeating reigning premier Reynella by 37 points during round 16 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Reynella yesterday. Zac Sproule kicked 11 goals in a best-on-ground performance for ‘Porties’ to fire his side to a 19.8 (122) to 13.7 (85) victory. Meanwhile, Jake Agnew (4) and Bailey Marshman (3) were the leading goalkickers for Reynella. Joining Sproule in the best players for Port Noarlunga were Matthew Coulthard, Todd Mckay, Eduard Van den berg, Nick Steele and Brodie Smith. Best for the Wine Flies included Talon Copley, Liam Reid, Agnew, Marshman, Bradley Potter and Luke Cooper.


Happy Valley won their 15th game in a row after a comprehensive 160-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. The Vikings led by 83 points at halftime, before kicking 14 goals to one in the second half to win 27.21 (183) to 3.5 (23). Nick Kraemer kicked eight goals for the Vikings (64 for the season), while Max Gill and Jordan Thompson kicked five goals each. Best players for Happy Valley included Thompson, Dylan Brown, Gill, Kraemer, Cooper Rogers and Darnell Tucker. Ironbank Cherry Gardens’ best included Tom Smith, Levi Grigg, Kyle Schefe, Chase Wooley, Ben Marsh and Jacob Campbell.


Noarlunga kept their finals hopes alive after defeating Aldinga by 105 points yesterday. Brad Inglis kicked seven goals as the Shoes won 19.11 (125) to 3.2 (20). Nick Mott, Jamison Snelling and Luke Ross kicked three goals each for Noarlunga, while their best players were Mott, Snelling, Callum Gaspari, Jake Anderson, Bradley Gates and Brad Inglis. Best for Aldinga included Jacob McDonald, Angus Stangewitz, Samuel Bentley, Logan Edwards, Mitchell Jarrett and Joel Cartwright.



Christies Beach consolidated their top-five spot following a 106-point win at home against Morphett Vale. The Saints won every quarter on their way to a 21.15 (141) to 5.5 (35) victory. Michael Mazey (5), Mackenzie Nield (5) and Jonty Murphy (3) were the leading goalkickers for Christies Beach, while their best players were Nield, Nathan Sable, Mazey, Harrison Butcher, Aidan Coakley and Tom Kirwan. Morphett Vale’s best were Oleh Trus, Braydan Hartwig, Daniel Bode, Connor Mulloy, Ben James and Bailey Sowter.


Flagstaff Hill also confirmed their spot in the top three after defeating Cove by 31 points. Cove led by a point at quarter time, but ‘Flaggies’ took over from then on to win 13.18 (96) to 10.5 (65). Blake Aldridge kicked four goals for the Falcons, while Jayden Hall slotted five majors for the Cobras. Flagstaff Hill was best served by D’Arcy Mitchell, Nathan Beenham, Daniel Nash, Mitchell Johnson, Brad Kirk and Ben Rossi. Best for the Cobras were Michael Galley, Jackson Riddle, Hall, Zachary Thomas and Lachlan Hayes.
