Following a successful south coast event in July, Mayo MP Rebekha Sharkie will host another Positive Ageing Forum in Strathalbyn on Friday 31 January.
It aims to promote the well-being and engagement of older people in the community, equipping people with the knowledge and skills to thrive.
Ms Sharkie hopes the forum will help to reframe the conversation around ageing, creating a more inclusive society where the contributions of older Australians are acknowledged and valued.
“there will be opportunities to ask questions of a panel of experts and share with me matters that you would like raised in the Parliament. There will also be Expo stalls providing useful information.
The free forum will provide information about navigating the ageing process and steps that can be taken to maintain physical and mental health and remain connected to local community.
Speakers will include Ian Yates AM, from Council on the Ageing; Chris Grice from National Seniors Australia; Carolanne Barkla from Aged Rights Advocacy Service; and Tim Donlan from Donlan Lawyers.
It will run from 1pm to 4pm; reserve a place by registering on Eventbrite or call Ms Sharkie’s office on 8398 5566.
The MP will also hold a Positive Ageing Forum in Lobethal on Friday 7 February. Find the details on Eventbrite.
