Thousands of exuberant teens will visit the south coast from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 November to celebrate the end of their school days at the annual Schoolies Festival.
The centre of the action will be at Warland Reserve in Victor Harbor and the council will temporarily close a series of roads in the interests of public safety, with exemptions granted for Council vehicles, emergency services and local residents.
The following roads will be closed to traffic from Friday 17 November to Monday 20 November.
Businesses requiring vehicle access during the road closure times for deliveries, cleaning or staff, should contact the council about access permits.
Temporary parking controls will be in place from Thursday 16 November to Monday 20 November on The Esplanade and Flinders Parade to facilitate the event shuttle bus services.
Temporary parking controls will be removed from the Granite Island side of Flinders Parade and The Esplanade from 6am daily, to provide parking opportunities for visitors to Victor Harbor and Granite Island during the day.
Outdoor amplified music is banned after 2am, reduced from 3am in response to community feedback. It may stop earlier if crowd numbers decrease before event closing times.
The festival is an alcohol and drug-free event and the Victor Harbor town centre, the Causeway and Granite Island will be a 24-hr dry zone from 8am on Monday 13 November to 10am on Monday 20 November.
Event manager Encounter Youth has contracted professional security for the event.
National Parks will close Granite Island from 7pm until 6am daily over the festival period.
The City of Victor Harbor has produced a Schoolies Frequently Asked Questions Fact Sheet. Full details of road closures and restrictions, including a map, can be viewed on the council website.
