Prepare for winds and high tides

A combination of the River Murray inflows, strong and gusty winds and high tides over the next few days may see minor river level rises south of Murray Bridge and in the Lower Lakes.

The winds and high tides are similar to those experienced on 14 November 2022, where we saw inundation in areas such as the Mundoo Channel Drive, Mundoo.

The South Australian State Emergency Service (SASES) is encouraging members of the public with properties in Mundoo Channel Drive, Mundoo and Sugars Beach - particularly those which have experienced similar impacts due to tides and winds in the past - to be aware of the risk of rising water levels and to monitor conditions over the next few days.

These gusty winds may also cause some wave-like action in parts of the River Murray south of Murray Bridge, and members of the community may see the impacts of these in their area.

If you see a levee defect, failure or water coming over a levee (otherwise known as 'overtopping') due to this activity, which is threatening your safety, call 132 500 for SASES assistance. Call Triple Zero (000) if it is a life threat.

Roads may also see water across them due to the winds and high tides. Remember, do not drive, ride or walk through floodwaters. Monitor the Department for Infrastructure and Transport Traffic SA website and social media for road closures in the area: https://www.traffic.sa.gov.au/
