Prescribed burn at Talisker Conservation Park

A prescribed burn is planned at Talisker Conservation Park on the Fleurieu Peninsula on Friday, weather conditions permitting.

The prescribed burn will start at 11am on Friday October 24 and is likely to be completed by 4pm on the same day.

This is a 1.8-hectare edge burn to the north of Talisker Road in preparation for a larger burn. Talisker Road will be impacted by smoke and will remain open.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.

NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.

Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
