A prescribed burn in the Bullock Hill Conservation Park (3.5km south east of Ashbourne and 8.5 km west of Strathalbyn), is planned for this afternoon, weather conditions permitting.
The burn will commence at 4pm and is expected to be complete by 10pm.
Haines Road to the south of the burn may be impacted by smoke.
Walking trails through Bullock Hill Conservation Park may be closed or have access restricted pending local weather conditions.
It will affect about 18.4 hectares within the park and the objective of the burn is to reduce the likelihood of the whole park burning in a single bushfire event.
Some smoke and fire activity may be observed on the day and following the burn and will be patrolled until it is safe.
The burn will be carried out by National Parks and Wildlife Services as part of the Mt Lofty Ranges Fire Co-operative prescribed burn program.
Local CFS Volunteers have been invited to attend.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice if conditions change.
