South Coast Progressive Women will host a public meeting next Tuesday 18 April to discuss a proposed overtaking lane on the Victor Harbor Road.

The overtaking lane at Hindmarsh Valley is part of a safety improvements package that includes an upgrade of the intersection at Hindmarsh Tiers Road and Virgin Road.

The meeting has been called to air concerns about clearance of native vegetation and to explore possible alternatives methods of improving road safety.

The state government has contracted the Fleurieu Connections Alliance (FCA) to upgrade the Victor Harbor Road and Main South Road.

FCA conducted public consultation on drafts of the safety improvements in January and February this year.

The final design of the proposed southbound overtaking lane is expected in mid-2023, with construction anticipated to commence in late 2023.
