Alexandrina Council has begun implementing a rabbit control program across public reserves and open space areas.
It aims to address the negative impact of wild rabbits on the environment, including significant erosion within conservation reserve areas.
Working in collaboration with Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu, the council has already undertaken targeted warren fumigation.
From mid-February, weather permitting, the council will release Pindone baits in specified areas.
It expects the baiting process to be completed within months and while it proceeds there will be temporary signage placed in affected reserves.
