Tait (27), Ty Watson (25), Moule-Hooworth (23) and Justin Summerill (20) all chipped in to see the Raiders over the line with 15 balls remaining. Ned Hopgood (3/33), Pick (2/18) and Ezekiel Hemming (1/16) were the wicket takers for Stirling.
In the other game in Pool A, Meadows won their first game with an exciting five-wicket victory against Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Meadows. SCIB batted first and compiled a handy 3/154 from their 20 overs with skipper Adam Shearwood leading the way with 60 from 44 balls (9x 4’s), while Lachlan Knight (34), Stuart Norton (26 not out) and Darcy Campbell (24 not out) made handy contributions. The Meadows run chase was anchored by a fine innings of 58 (32 balls) from Rohan Reid, but when he was dismissed, the game swung back in Scott Creek Ironbanks’s favour. Skipper Brad Louch made a crucial 28 (26 balls), before veteran Haydn Reid played a cameo knock of 24 not out from just 11 balls to see his side over the line with two balls to spare.Jayden Rea with 2/30 (4) was the leading wicket taker for SCIB.
In Pool B, Mount Lofty are undefeated after a low-scoring 21-run win at Kangarilla. The Redcaps batted first with the innings dominated by a 74-run fifth wicket stand between Ryan Pistola and Jordan Neis-Beer which helped lift their side to 5/123. Pistola top scored with 53 from 49 balls, while Neis-Beer finished on 28 not out (28 balls). Jack Evans (2/21) was the pick of the ‘Kangies’ bowlers. Steve Featherstone (38) and Jake Turnbull (34) got Kangarilla off to a great start with an opening partnership of 70 before ‘Feathers’ departed in the 10th over. From then on it was all Mount Lofty as they strangled the home side to restrict them to 7/102 from their 20 overs. Josh Mitchell was the star for the Redcaps with the ball taking an incredible 6/9 from four overs.
The other game in Pool B saw Mylor win their first game of the competition with a 28-run win at home against Aldgate. The hosts batted first with Tom Plant carrying his bat to make 81 not out from 59 balls (6 x 4’s, 5 x 6’s) as the Pipers posted a very competitive 4/153 from their 20 overs. Angus Bilsborow (2/24) was the leading wicket taker for Aldgate. The Gaters were never really in the run chase despite James Anthony leading the way with 67 from 55 balls (6 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s), but unfortunately for him, no other Aldgate batsman passed 15 as they finished on 8/125. Oliver Sendy (2/18) was the multiple wicket taker for Mylor.
