Enquiries are continuing at Rapid Bay after a kayak was found floating unattended near the jetty.

About 5.45pm on Thursday 23 September, police were alerted after reports of a kayak drifting about 80 metres from shore between the caravan park and the jetty. A man had been seen fishing from the kayak an hour earlier.

Police Water Operations Unit coordinated the search with local police, PolAir, SES crews and Sea Rescue volunteers who carried out an air and water and ground search for the missing man. The unmanned kayak and a burley bucket was brought to shore.
