Strathalbyn Rotary’s annual Great Duck Race fundraiser is on this Sunday 19 November, when 2,500 duckies will brave the Angas River.
The community has purchased raffle tickets matched to each duck for a chance to win a prize from the $2000 prize pool.
This year the Rotary club has teamed up with the Adelaide Rally, which will see more than 400 rally cars visiting Strathalbyn on the day.
There will be a time trial street circuit around the town and park, and the community can enjoy the fun of the Duck Race in the Park.
There will be food vans, and a market run by the Strathalbyn CWA with lots of market stalls and plenty of fun for the kids.
The SteamRanger will also run a Duck Race train from Mount Barker so duck racers can catch the train.
The club began the race in 1990 and it has become one of its major fundraising events of the year.
Over the years there have been many creative ways to persuade the ducks to race down the river, from water jets to small boats and, in recent years, wind machines.
Local businesses battle it out to be named the best dressed Corporate Duck, as voted on by the public.
It will all take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm in Strathalbyn Soldiers Memorial Gardens.
