Recent road works in the Victor Harbor council area have been contributing to the environment by using recycled materials.
Asphalt that incorporates thousands of glass bottles and tyres has been used to reseal sections of Armstrong Road and Seaview Road.
The City of Victor Harbor says more than 80,000 kilograms of bottles and 7,000 kilograms of tyres now make up the roads.
Reseal works on Agnes Gillespie/ Sinclair Street, Waterport Road and Range Road have used even more recycled materials.
The council says it consciously selects contractors with sustainability in mind for its annual resealing program to maintain and improve the local road network.
The policy contributes to the circular economy, by reducing the amount of virgin materials required to build roads and repurposing products otherwise destined for landfill.
