Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill still in the hunt in the Southern Football League Women

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill moved back inside the top-four after a comprehensive 151-point win at Aldinga during round 14 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition on Sunday. The Falcons led by 73 points at halftime and kicked another 11 goals in the second half to win 22.19 (151) to 0.0 (0). Emily Brockhurst kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Falcons, while Tanisha Hodgkison kicked three. Brockhurst has now kicked 50 goals for the season, including 29 in the last three games! Joining Brockhurst in the best players for ‘Flaggies’ were Ebony Scanlan, Elizabeth Johnson, Tia Taylor and Chloe Meyers. Best for Aldinga were Mackenzie Jones, Paige Curtin and Nikki Duggan. 


Port Noarlunga has all but secured the double chance after defeating Cove by 23 points at Port Noarlunga on Sunday. Cove started well, kicking the first two goals of the game, to lead by 11 points at quarter time. ‘Porties’ then kicked five unanswered goals in the remaining three quarters to win 5.7 (37) to 2.2 (14). Port Noarlunga vice-captain Samantha Lynch kicked three goals, while the Cobras’ goals were kicked by Kate Galley and Lauren Pattimore. Amber O’Hanlon was named best for the Cockle Divers and she was well supported by Tahlia McKew, Lynch, Bree Chapman and Shakira Dolman. Best for the Cobras included Lauren Kenny, Ashleigh Need, Jaime Norup, Ella Gill and Jasmine Dietrich.


Noarlunga won their second game in a row after a 79-point victory over Aldinga at Old Noarlunga. The Shoes dominated throughout winning 12.9 (81) to 0.2 (2). Sarah Stanbury (3), Shannon Astley (2) and Febi Mansell (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Noarlunga, while their best players included Megan Weetra, Stanbury, Shaylee Hobbs, Elyshiah Forrest and Colette Barnard. Aldinga’s best were Tayla Mousley, Nikki Duggan, Olivia Cumming, Mackenzie Jones and Ayla Regione.


Christies Beach remained top of the ladder after receiving a forfeit from Reynella.
