Reigning premier Kingscote knocked out of title race by WisangerWisanger progress to Preliminary Final while Western Districts reach third consecutive Grand Final.

First Semi-Final (Kingscote v Wisanger)

Wisanger has ended Kingscote’s season with a comprehensive 55-point win in the first semi-final played yesterday at Wisanger. The two sides met in the final minor round with Kingscote winning a thriller by six points and when scores were locked away at 5.1 (31) apiece at quarter time, it ppeared another classic was on the cards. However from that point on it was all Wisanger as they kicked five goals to one in the second term to take a 25-point lead into the long break. The third quarter was tight but the Panthers still managed to extend their lead out to 31 points with a quarter to play. The last quarter was a procession from the Panthers and with the home crowd behind them, they slammed on a further seven goals to three to win 21.11 (137) to 12.10 (82). Wisanger had 10 different goal kickers with Gavin Mason leading the way with five majors. Best players for the victorious Wisanger team were Paul Bott, Samuel Snowball and Khyal Stead while for the vanquished Kingscote their best were Rory Lovering, Declan Corby and Paul Green. Wisanger march on to the preliminary final against Parndana at Parndana on Saturday while Kingscote are left to rue their missed chance at back-to-back flags.

Second Semi-Final (Western Districts v Parndana)

Minor premier Western Districts Saints have won their way into the 2019 Grand Final with a thrilling five-point victory over Parndana Roosters. The final scores were 10.6 (66) to 9.7 (61). The Saints had limped into the finals, losing their last two minor round games before having the bye in the final round. They bye obviously did them good along with the knowledge that they had prevailed over the Roosters in their previous two encounters in 2019. Josh Graham kicked three goals for Western Districts while Reece Johnston also slotted three majors for Parndana. Best for the Saints were Damon Weatherspoon, Henry Riggs and Robert Clements while for Parndana Hahns Sullivan, Jaan Kuchel and Nathan Trethewey performed well. Western Districts will play in their third Grand Final in a row with the match to be played at Kingscote on September 14 while Parndana will host Wisanger in the Preliminary Final.
