Reigning premier Port Noarlunga on the board in Southern Football League Women's

Reigning premier Port Noarlunga got their 2025 Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) season off to a good start with an 80-point win over Ironbank Cherry Gardens yesterday. The Cockle Divers led throughout before winning 12.8 (80) to 0.0 (0). Abbie Healey (4) and Maddy Craggs (3) were the multiple goalkickers for ‘Porties’, while their best players were Abby Dittmar, Maddy Craggs, Healey, Eilish O’Hanlon, Nasyah Turner and Elizabeth Tracey. Best players for Ironbank Cherry Gardens included Tahlia Ward, Audrey Myers, Teagan Del Torre-Darrington, Jesse Smith and Olivia Walker-Obushak.


Cove Cobras travelled to Hackham yesterday and came away with a 49-point victory over the Hawks. Cove led by 17 points at halftime, before kicking three goals to none in the second half to win 4.25 (49) to 0.0 (0). Angelique Dean was named best-on-ground for the Cobras and she was well supported by Lauren Kenny, Iona Parr, Jaymie Savaidis, Emily Hocking and Hayley Donnell. Hackham’s best were Madeline Shores, Imogen Dwyer, Alana Browne, Ashton Gaskell, Alisha MacFadyen and Olivia Cumming.


2024 runner-up Flagstaff Hill had a percentage-boosting start to their season after defeating Aldinga by 144 points at Shark Park yesterday. The Falcons led by 67 points at halftime, before kicking a further 12 unanswered goals in the second half to win 21.18 (144) to 0.0 (0). Jessica Couch, who kicked 40 goals last season, was the standout forward with a career-best 10 majors, while Brooke May and Ebony Scanlan kicked three goals each. Best players for ‘Flaggies’ were May, Couch, Emma Hodgson, Nicole O'Connor, Scanlan and Lara Sarre. Best for Aldinga included Daisy Barber, Cameron Twigden, Holly Wilde, Amanda McPherson, Skye Wilson and Molly Reynolds.


Reynella showed they’ll be a force again this season with a convincing 107-point win against Christies Beach. The Wine Flies led throughout to win 16.17 (113) to 1.0 (6). Neive Morgan kicked seven goals for Reynella, while Tayla Wright kicked six goals in a best-on-ground performance. Other good players for Reynella included Summer Weir, Mia Brennan, Ashlee Wright and Sienna Garner. Meanwhile, best players for the Saints were Chloe Brooks, Madison Marsh, Shakaya Johnson, Maisie Hunt, Hayley Haire and Bella Wheatley.
