Reigning premier Reynella won their first game of the season following a 27-point win in the Grand Final rematch against Morphett Vale during round two action in the Southern Football League (SFL) yesterday. The Wine Flies started well, taking a handy 34-point lead to halftime. Morphett Vale battled hard in the second half, kicking five goals to four, but ultimately Reynella triumphed 10.11 (71) to 6.8 (44). Daniel Harris (4) and Marc Borholm (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Reynella, while Dylan Williams kicked two goals for the Emus. Best players for Reynella included Tyler Davies, Borholm, Lachlan McGuinness, Talon Copley, and Bailey Marshman. Brian Gill, Robert Schindler-Taylor, Michael Smith, Harry Clarkson, and Toby Irlam were the best players for Morphett Vale. 


Noarlunga won their second game for 2023 with a comfortable 68-point win at Christies Beach. The game was tight for the first three quarters as the Shoes led by 18 points at the last change. Noarlunga exploded in the last quarter, kicking 8.4 to 0.2, to win 15.17 (107) to 6.3 (39). Best players for the Shoes were Sam Beard, Jake Anderson, Josh Beard, Nick Mott, and Bailey Hann. Mott kicked six goals for Noarlunga with Troy Johnson, Jaiden Kappler, and Luke Ross kicking two goals each. Nathan Stock kicked two goals for the Saints, while their best players included Thomas Truscott, Josh de Roode, Josh Semmens, Bradley Truscott, and Dwayne Morrison.


Flagstaff Hill moved to the top of the ladder with a huge 159-point win over Cove at Hallett Cove. The Falcons got off to an excellent start to lead by 44 points at the first change. The second term was tight as ’Flaggies’ took a 49-point lead to halftime. The second half was one-way traffic as the Falcons kicked 19 goals to one to win 31.10 (196) to 5.7 (37). Former AFL ruckman Sam Jacobs kicked seven goals in a best-on-ground display for the Falcons, while Aiden Grayson and Sam Smith kicked five goals each. Corey Nesbitt and Jayden Morton kicked two goals each for the Cobras. Joining Jacobs in the best players for Flagstaff Hill were Michael Shearer, Grayson, Reece Milsom, Smith, and Nick Bailey. Best for the Cobras included Aaron Wordsworth, Brody Pearce, and Lucas Hill.


Happy Valley remain undefeated after a thrilling come-from-behind four-point win at Aldinga yesterday. Aldinga held a handy 19-point lead at the last change, before Happy Valley finished with five goals to one in the last term to win 15.9 (99) to 15.5 (95). Alistair Fleming, Corey Grocock, and Liam O’Connor all kicked three goals for the Vikings, while Cameron Jarrett and Tom Pilmore also kicked three goals for the Sharks. Best players for Happy Valley were Tain Smelt, Jordan Thompson, Cody Cox, Shane Stagg, and Ross Mullins. Best for Aldinga included Bailey Pilmore, Sam Bentley, Angus Stangewitz, Cooper Rose, and Jack Langdon.
