Fresh off their first win last week, Noarlunga hosted reigning premier Flagstaff Hill at Old Noarlunga on Saturday during round five action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition. The Falcons, who also won their first match last week, got off to a fast start to lead by 36 points at quarter time. A further 13 goals to one in the last three quarters, saw Flagstaff Hill win 20.13 (133) to 2.3 (15). Amber Cloughessy kicked eight goals for ‘Flaggies’ and she was well supported by Emily Brockhurst who snared seven majors. Steph Alderman, after three goals last week, and Elyshiah Forrest were the goalkickers for the Shoes. Best players for the Falcons were Elizabeth Johnson, Cloughessy, Emily Brockhurst, Rachel Crockart and Amelia Morriss. For the Shoes, Colette Barnard, Megan Weetra and Forrest were amongst their best players.
Christies Beach won their fourth game of the season with a tight 13-point win against Port Noarlunga in a top-three clash at Bice Oval today. The Saints led at every change before winning 5.4 (34) to 3.3 (21). Chelsea Salvemini was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals for ‘Christies’. Isabella Zito was named best player for the Saints and she was well supported by Angelique Dean, Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald, Salvemini and Mia Dunn. Best players for ‘Porties’ included Elisha Scriven, Kaitlyn Millhouse, Shakira Dolman, Bree Chapman and Jessica Couch.
Reynella moved to the top of the ladder following their 51-point win against Cove Cobras at Hallett Cove. The Wine Flies led by 15 points at quarter time, 31 points at halftime, and 45 points at the last change, before winning 6.17 (53) to 0.2 (2). Georgia Scholes kicked two goals for Reynella, while their best players were Indiana Barbour, Anja Bancevic, Morgan Blackwell, Zannah Loxton and Ella Besley. Best players for the Cobras included Cally Swalue, Dana O’Brien and Tamara Harrison.
Hackham won their first game of the season with a comfortable 63-point win against Aldinga. Hackham led by 19 points at halftime and kicked a further six goals in the second half to win 9.10 (64) to 0.1 (1). Claire Wheeler (3) and Tayla Christopher (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Hawks. Katelyn Wilson, Ellie-Louise Ellingham, Kristy Thomson, Wheeler and Maddison Hay were named as best players for Hackham. Best players for the Sharks included Olivia Savage, Paige Curtin and Rhylee McCall.
