Reigning premier Reynella won their fifth game of the season following a 27-point win against Cove during round six action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Reynella yesterday. The first three quarters were tight with Reynella turning for home with a slender two-point lead. The reigning premier put their foot down in the final quarter, kicking four goals to zero, to win 7.8 (50) to 3.5 (23). Chloe Lea and Ashlee Wright kicked two goals each for Reynella, while their best players were Zannah Loxton, Ashlee Wright, Charlotte Watson, Mia Brennan, Scarlett Bradford and Sarah Bourn. The Cobras were best served by Jaime Norup, Ella Gill, Jemima Buss, Angelique Dean, Hayley Donnell and Zali Trenorden.
Flagstaff Hill kept the pressure on for a top-two spot with a comfortable 60-point victory against Ironbank Cherry Gardens yesterday. The Falcons led throughout to win 10.13 (73) to 2.1 (13). Jessica Couch continued her good goal kicking form with five majors for ‘Flaggies’ to be the standout forward on the field. Other good players for the Falcons included Emma Hodgson, Melanie Koster, Elise Winton, Brooke Watson and Rachel Crockart. Best for Ironbank Cherry Gardens were Olivia Walker-Obushak, Josie Harris, Tahlia Ward, Georgia Kempster, Rebecca Watson and Jessie O’Brien.
In the final match of round six, Port Noarlunga received a forfeit win from Noarlunga.
Hackham had the bye.
