Yesterday, Wednesday 6 September, Detectives from Task Force Southern travelled to the Mid North region to continue their search in relation to the ongoing investigation.
Police can confirm that human remains have been located in an underground cement water tank on an abandoned property on Peak Road, Minvalara, southeast of Orroroo.
Detectives from Major Crime Investigation Branch attended at the scene along with Forensic Response members, a Forensic Anthropologist and SES.
Detectives believe these remains are of long-term missing person Robert Atkins. His remains have been recovered and a forensic examination has been completed.
So far there have been five people charged in connection with the disappearance of Robert Atkins, including one who has been charged with murder. Detectives aren’t ruling out further arrests.
Detective Superintendent Des Bray said this search was conducted just outside areas previously searched.
“This is a significant moment in the Task Force Southern investigation. However, detectives remain committed to locating the body of Jeff Mundy and those responsible for his death," he says.
Jeff Mundy was last seen in the Seaford and Sellicks Beach areas on 19 December 2020.
Anyone with information on his murder, or who may know the whereabouts of Jeff should contact police.
Anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.
