Renee Moon wins the GSFLW Open 2020 medal

The Great Southern Football League Women's (GSFLW) Open and Under 16 Girls 2020 medal counts were held last night in the lead up to the finals series which starts at Victor Harbor on Sunday. Renee Moon from Goolwa/Port Elliot was the winner of the Open medal, polling an incredible 18 votes (out of a possible 21). The talented sportswoman also won the Great Southern Netball Association League Best and Fairest in 2019. Moon won by two votes from Emogen Johnson (16 votes) of Strathalbyn. Sally Fuller (9) from McLaren finished third with her teammate Layla Rogers (8) and Laura Smith (8) from Yankalilla finishing in a tie for fourth. Emily Cozamanis from Strathalbyn was the leading goalkicker with 14 goals.


The Under 16 Girls medal was won by Jemma Ellis of Yankalilla with 14 votes. Ellis won by two votes from Jaimee Millard (12 votes) of Victor Harbor. The two girls will face off in the first semi final on Sunday at Victor. Carli Perryman (Willunga), Alissa Brook (Victor Harbor) and Brooke Boileau (Mount Compass) finished in a tie for third with seven votes each. Jessica Harris from Willunga was the leading goalkicker with 22 goals for the season including three 'bags' of five goals in a row to complete the minor round.
