Onkaparinga council will review its Open Space Strategic Management Plan and is calling for the community to provide feedback on its parks, reserves and playgrounds.
The plan is reviewed by the council every five years to ensure a variety of interconnected open spaces are equitably provided throughout the city to meet current and future needs of the community.
It has contracted market research firm McGregor Tan to engage community input, analyse and report.
Understanding community needs is critical to development of the plan and the first engagement phase will help the council understand how people use local reserves and playgrounds.
This includes a survey that can be completed online. https://yoursay.onkaparinga.sa.gov.au/open-space-strategic-management-plan-review
It will also include 100 hours of face to face interviews at various reserves and playgrounds throughout the City of Onkaparinga.
A quick poll asks whether the community would prefer to have more playgrounds that have less equipment, and are within a 5-minute walk of most households, or fewer playgrounds that have more equipment, and are within a 10-minute walk of most households.

Consultation for the review of the plan is open until 29 January 2024.
