Rex Airlines have blamed Qantas for its decision to cut all flights to Kangaroo Island from the end of March.
The airline's management is calling on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to act against rivals Qantas for what it calls “aggressive predatory moves”.
Rex claims Qantas is using Commonwealth assistance to stay solvent and absorb losses on services that it says even pre-COVID could only financially support one carrier.
It will also dump four NSW regional routes.
The airline flew 42 000 passengers to the island annually before the start of the pandemic.
Qantas began flying between Adelaide and Kingscote in December 2017.
Tickets for the 40-minute flight current cost around $150 (one way).
