Reynella consolidate top two spot in the SFLW competition

Reynella consolidated second position on the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition ladder following a convincing 90-point win at home against Hackham. Reynella led by 30 points at quarter time, 52 points at halftime, 70 points at three quarter time before winning 14.7 (91) to 0.1 (1). The Wine Flies had eight different goalkickers including Madison Short and Rebecca Slegers who each kicked three goals. Tyler Davies, Kristy Jenkinson, Vanessa Graham, Short and Emma McManus were named in the best players for Reynella. Nikki Parker, Belinda Macrow, Kirsty Watson, Rachel Cole and Emily Cooper battled hard for the Hawks.


Flagstaff Hill moved up to third on the ladder after defeating Aldinga by 115 points on Sunday. The Falcons led by 71 points at halftime before eventually winning 16.19 (115) to 0.0 (0). Soriah Moon kicked five goals in a best on ground performance for Flagstaff Hill. Other multiple goalkickers for the Falcons were Nicole Mogg (3), Katherine Wise (2), Carli Morton (2) and Kelsey Rodman (2). Jaimi Griffen, Jean-Louise Papps and Alison Szalanski were among the best players for the Sharks.


Christies Beach all but wrapped up the minor premiership with a hard fought 31-point win over reigning premier Cove. Cove started well to lead by nine points at quarter time after keeping Christies Beach scoreless. Christies hit back in the second term to kick two goals and lead by five points at halftime. The Saints showed their class in the second half as they kicked five goals to one to win 7.5 (47) to 2.4 (16) and firm as premiership favourites. Casie Coombe and Kelly Armstrong kicked two goals each for Christies. The Cobras’ goals were kicked by Lauren Grigg and Kate Galley. Coombe, Pamela May, Tallara Power, Melanie Koster and Armstrong were named best players for the Saints while Grigg, Lara Ward and Dana O’Brien were among the best players for Cove.


Morphett Vale had the bye.
