Reynella fly to the top of the ladder in the Southern Football League

Reynella moved to the top of the ladder after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill by 11 points during round 14 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Reynella yesterday. The game was tight throughout as Reynella led by just three points at the last change, before kicking four goals to three in the last term to win 10.10 (70) to 9.5 (59). Callan Semple kicked three goals for the Wine Flies, while Blake Aldridge also kicked three majors for the Falcons. Tom Schirmer, Bailey Marshman, Tyler Davies, Lachlan McGuinness, Chris Hunter and Dylan Roser were named best for Reynella, while Flagstaff Hill was best served by Reece Milsom, Aldridge, Zakaria Cavouras, Tristan Smith, Mason Carney and Bradley Patterson.


Christies Beach won their sixth game in a row to consolidate their position in the top-five after defeating Aldinga by six points at Aldinga yesterday. ‘Christies’ held a handy 18-point lead at halftime, before Aldinga fought back to get within a kick before going down 7.11 (53) to 7.5 (47). Christies Beach had seven individual goal kickers, while Jayden Scott was the standout forward on the field with five goals for the Sharks. Best players for Christies Beach included Austin Hogg, Harry Caught, Mackenzie Nield, Callum Haddon, Rhys Mundy and Joshua de Roode. Joining Scott in the best players for Aldinga were Sam Bentley, Tom Pilmore, Zach Young, Josiah Sheppard and Angus Stangewitz.


Happy Valley won their second game in a row after a comfortable 65-point win at Ironbank Cherry Gardens. The Vikings won every quarter on their way to a 14.21 (105) to 5.10 (40) victory. Harry Davenport and Harry Vick were the leading goal kickers for Happy Valley with three goals each, while Max Matheson kicked two goals for Ironbank Cherry Gardens. Best players for the Vikings included Harry Spacie, Lachlan Hamilton, Joel Beeche, Liam Hamilton, Max Gill and Tain Smelt. Ironbank Cherry Gardens was best served by Matheson, Jake Pokoina, Levi Grigg, Jayden Rea, Mitchell Davis and Chase Wooley.


Noarlunga kept their finals hopes alive with a comfortable 55-point win against Cove. The Shoes held a 21-point lead at the last change, before kicking six goals to one in the last quarter to win 16.15 (111) to 8.8 (56). Jamie Grosser (4), Luke Ross (3), Nick Mott (2) and Terry Kathopoulis (2) were the leading goal kickers for Noarlunga, while Jayden Morton and Chris Buersch kicked three goals each for the Cobras. Best players for Noarlunga were Josh Beard, Mott, Callum Gaspari, Beau Donaldson, Jamison Snelling and Grosser. Kyle Stoldt, Buersch, Rhys Mutch, Jackson Riddle, James Farrugia and Dean Hancock were named best for Cove.


Port Noarlunga consolidated their position in the top-three after defeating Morphett Vale by 43 points yesterday. Morphett Vale got off to a good start to lead by five points at halftime, but ‘Porties’ got going in the second half, kicking 11 goals to four, to win 14.17 (101) to 8.10 (58). Nathaniel Paredes kicked five goals for the Cockle Divers which gives him 33 majors for the season, while Blake Carter kicked three goals for the Emus. Best players for Port Noarlunga included Kyan Smith, Paredes, Eduard Van den berg, Brodie Smith, Billy Cook and Liam O’Connor-Dawkins. Best for Morphett Vale included Dylan Miller, Aiden Baker, Leroy Marsh, Connor Lock, Carter and Aiden O'Neill.
