Reynella straight through to GF in the Southern Football League Women's 'A' Grade

Christies Beach upset Port Noarlunga yesterday at Morphett Vale to progress to the preliminary final in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition. The knockout semi-final was a tense and low-scoring affair with ‘Porties’ leading by just two points at the last change. In a torrid last quarter, ‘Christies’ kicked three behinds while Port Noarlunga failed to score to see Christies Beach win 1.5 (11) to 1.4 (10). Melanie Koster kicked the Saints’ only goal, while Teegan Mesecke kicked the Cockle Divers’ goal. Isabella Zito, Koster, Naomi Jones, Maddison Wilson-Niessen and Hannah Clarke were named best players for the Saints. Best for the Cockle Divers were Madison Harris, Bree Chapman, Nikki Parker, Jolie Malinowski and Mesecke.

Minor premier Reynella are the first team through to the Grand Final after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill by 18 points at Flagstaff Hill. The Wine Flies got off to an excellent start as they kicked four goals to lead by 27 points at quarter time. Flagstaff Hill outscored Reynella over the last three quarters, kicking four goals to two, but the damage had been done as the Wine Flies won 6.8 (44) to 4.2 (26). Georgia Scholes was the leading goalkicker on the field with three goals for Reynella. Caitlin Walter, Zannah Loxton, Anja Bancevic, Grace Doran and Madison Bennett were named best for the Wine Flies.
