Reynella win Grand Final rematch in the Southern Football League Women's competition

Reynella kept the pressure on for a top-two spot after defeating Flagstaff Hill by 13 points at Reynella during round 11 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition yesterday. The game was tight and low scoring for the first three quarters as last year’s grand finalists slugged it out, with ‘Flaggies’ taking a slender five-point lead at three quarter time. Reynella got their game going in the last quarter, kicking three unanswered goals, to win 4.2 (26) to 2.1 (13). Emily Brockhurst was the only multiple goalkicker on the ground with two goals for the Falcons. Best players for the Wine Flies were Madison Bennett, Anja Bancevic, Caitlin Walter, Sarah Bourn and Shanique West. Flagstaff Hill’s best included Brockhurst, Emma Hodgson, Chloe Meyers, Brooke Watson and Amelia Morriss.


Christies Beach maintained their spot at the top of the ladder after a comfortable 134-point win against Hackham. The Saints led by 22 points at quarter time, 71 points at halftime, and 110 points at the last change, before winning 20.14 (134) to 0.0 (0). Cadence Bryowsky was a star up forward for ‘Christies’ with seven goals, while Savannah Rayner kicked four goals in a best-on-ground performance. Other good players for the Saints included Neriah Mills, Brooke O’Brien, Isabella Zito and Tallara Power. Best players for the Hawks included Maddison Hay, Tiarna Power, Shayley MacFayden, Nevara Richards and Keryn Tyler.


Cove Cobras consolidated their position in the top-four with a 90-point victory over Aldinga. The Cobras led by 56 points at halftime, before kicking another five goals in the second half to win 14.6 (90) to 0.0 (0). Ella Gill was on fire up forward with a big bag of 10 goals and Rachel Littlefield chipped in with three majors for Cove. Best players for the Cobras were Lauren Kenny, Gill, Jaymie Savaidis, Kate Galley and Emma Willoughby. Aldinga were best served by Nikki Duggan, Paige Curtin, Ayla Regione, Brianna McIver and Paige Bartlett. 


Port Noarlunga won their 10th game of the season after defeating Noarlunga by 87 points. ‘Porties’ led by 47 points at halftime, before kicking another six goals in the second half to win 13.10 (88) to 0.1 (1). Shakira Dolman, Madison Harris, Teegan Mesecke, Jessika O’Hanlon, Nikki Parker and Philippa Worthley all kicked two goals each for Port Noarlunga. Best players for the Cockle Divers included Jolie Malinowski, Brittany Pratt, Dolman, Parker and Harris. Best for the Shoes included Megan Weetra, Colette Barnard, Elyshiah Forrest, Justine Loots and Karlee Moffatt.
