Pop on your blue suede shoes and swankiest retro skirt – the program for the 2023 Victor Harbor Rock 'N' Roll Festival has been announced.

The much-loved south coast 50s throwback festival is scheduled for 16 and 17 September.

The main event will be at Warland Reserve, with the Shannon’s ‘Show n Shine’ vehicle display, market stalls, food vans and live entertainment for all ages to enjoy.

Rock and roll vibes will spill out across town over the weekend, with live music at a number of pubs and venues throughout the heart of Victor Harbor.

City of Victor Harbor Deputy Mayor David Kemp says there will be a fantastic line up of entertainment for all ages to enjoy.

“We know there’s a large group of people who look forward to the nostalgia of the Rock 'N' Roll Festival each year.

“The event draws around 8,000 visitors to Victor Harbor every September,” he says.

“If you love classic cars, live music and vintage memorabilia, you should block out 16–17 September in your calendar.

“Many local pubs and venues are getting involved, with Hotel Victor, Grosvenor Hotel, Anchorage Hotel and the Victor Harbor Town Hall hosting bands and entertainment throughout the weekend."

Following this year’s festival, the council will call for expressions of interest from individuals and groups to manage future Rock 'N' Roll Festivals and ensure the event’s continued success.

Chief Executive Officer Victoria MacKirdy says it’s a unique opportunity for someone in the community to take over the event and bring a fresh perspective.

“Council has proudly managed the festival in conjunction with the Historic Motor Vehicles Club for 14 years,” she says.

“It has come a long way since its inaugural event in September 2008.

“What started as a one-day program featuring rock and roll entertainment, vintage vehicle displays, and a few vendors has transformed into a highly anticipated two-day extravaganza.

“Now is the perfect time for an individual or group to take the reins.

“If you’re passionate about the festival and think you have the capacity to manage this major event, it’s something to keep in mind in the lead up to September.”

Expressions of interest will open soon after the conclusion of this year’s festival, and information will be available on the website
