Roosters up to second spot in the Great Southern Football League Women's competition

Strathalbyn won their second game of the season after a comprehensive 93-point win against Victor Harbor during round four action of the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL). The Roosters led all night to win 15.9 (99) to 1.0 (6). Indi Miller kicked six goals in a best-on-ground performance for Strathalbyn and she was well supported by Megan Rich who kicked five majors. Joining Miller in the best players for ‘Strath’ were Emma Chapman, Morgan Tucker, Katie Ehlers, Rich and Rosie Shaw. Best for ‘Victor’ were Aloura Kirk, Tegan Yeomans, Jasmine Bailey, Liz Hayman and Ayzia Arnold.


Willunga continued their undefeated start to the season with an 80-point victory against Mount Compass. The Demons led by 20 points at quarter time, 46 points at halftime and 66 points at the last change, before winning 11.14 (80) to 0.0 (0). Willunga had eight different goalkickers with Lauren Buchanan, Courtney Gum and Courtney Gutschmidt all kicking two. Willunga’s best players were Gutschmidt, Buchanan, Tamara Page, Jodie Hunt and Katrice Turner. ‘Compass’ were best served by Demi Sharp, Kiara Upitis, Georgina Thomas, Caroline Scott and Olivia Bendt.


McLaren Eagles moved up to third spot on the ladder after defeating Yankalilla by 89 points at Mount Compass yesterday. The final scores were McLaren 13.18 (96) to Yankalilla 1.1 (7). Sophia Flanagan-Sjoberg had a ‘day out’ for the Eagles with six goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Jordan Bartolic and Lauren Reynolds chimed in with two goals each. Other good contributors for McLaren were Reynolds, Katie Whish, Brooke Archbold, Bartolic and Meg Bentley. Among the best players for Yankalilla were Kimberley Rowe, Molly Watters and Teagan Stewart.


Goolwa/Port Elliot had the bye.
