Meet the lovable Pets of the Week, looking for forever homes at the RSPCA Lonsdale Shelter.
Emzie, Annie & Gemma are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week. These loving animals are waiting to find their perfect family. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.
Cat of the Week – Gemma
Patience is wonderfully rewarded if interacting with adorable ginger tabby Gemma (AID 183304), who has come to RSPCA after being found wandering and at risk in Whyalla.
Just two-years-old, this girl was quite shy at first, but the RSPCA cat whisperers have been working their magic and Gemma is now coming up for pats and treats – beef flavoured food is a favourite.
From hiding under the covers to leaning into her carers as she purrs, Gemma has come a long way since arriving in April and now she’s ready to find her forever home.
If you have other pets, that should be no problem – so long as you take time with introductions.
RSPCA’s cat care team can help ensure a smooth transition, and – as with all RSPCA animals available to adopt – Gemma is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date with parasite prevention.

Dogs of the Week – Emzie & Annie
Emzie and Annie (AIDs 184421 and 184422) are two beautiful, young Maremma sisters who were surrendered to RSPCA last month.
They have a close bond and rely on each other, so RSPCA’s dog-care team is hoping to find them a home where they can stay together.
Just one-year-old, these big girls are not suited to first-time dog owners or families with small children.
Both are sweet-natured but slightly nervous and would best suit a home that’s not too busy and has no other dogs.
Despite their breed being known for guarding livestock, these two are not suited to a property with farm animals unless they can be securely kept away from them.
The RSPCA team is confident that – with a responsible owner who understands dogs - Emzie and Annie will make lovely companions.
Both are very responsive to positive -reinforcement training, something their new owner would be advised to continue so these young dogs learn good manners that make them welcome in any company.
