The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) South Australia is the state’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity.

Since its establishment in Adelaide in 1875, the Society has remained the leading voice for all creatures great and small across South Australia.

It is dedicated to improving the lives of all animals across SA, working non-stop to defend the dignity of animals, while fighting to prevent animal cruelty.

Bringing solace to the abandoned, surrendered and injured, offering shelter, education, medical attention and love RSPCA staff and volunteers are animal protectors, carers and guardians.

Needing help to find animals loving forever homes, the Fleurieu App team has partnered up with RSPCA's Lonsdale Shelter. Starting today, and every Friday, we will introduce you to some lovable pets that need a forever home.

Dog of the Week – Mia

Two-year-old Mia (AID 175418) was surrendered to the RSPCA in June because her owner could not find pet-friendly rental accommodation.

This gentle, sweet young dog is currently the longest canine resident at RSPCA’s Lonsdale shelter. She’s a big girl and would suit a home with adults and older children.

Cat of the Week – Boris

Five-year-old Boris (AID 175753) arrived at RSPCA’s Lonsdale shelter via animal ambulance in July.

He’d been found wandering in Salisbury with a large, open wound on his side, caused by a collar that he’d managed to get a front leg through (RSPCA doesn’t recommend these kinds of collars, only collars that break open if a cat gets caught).

After surgery, he spent many weeks being cared for by a volunteer foster carer. This beautiful ginger chap has fully recovered; he is very lovable and affectionate, and is waiting patiently for a new home.
