The Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club has run the iconic Milang-Goolwa Freshwater Classic since 1974.
The club expanded the program of events when it launched the Goolwa Regatta Week in 2012, with strong community support.
The highlight of the week, 2020 Milang-Goolwa Freshwater Classic yacht race, will be held on Sunday 26 January.
The week will include events on and off the water from Saturday 18 January to Sunday 26 January, providing lots of reasons for yacht racers, casual sailors, families, friends and holidaymakers to spend the week in this beautiful part of the world.
The Marina Challenge on Saturday 18 January is a unique and exciting time-trial yachting event in the waterways of Coorong Quays, Hindmarsh Island.
The action will take place between 1 and 4pm in the southern lagoons.
Prizes will be given for first, second and third place on corrected time, with the presentation at Islanders Tavern, following the race.
Sunday 19 January will see an Aqua Spectacular at the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club.
Events include a Sailability regatta, dinghy racing, the Goolwa Vintage Boat Club yacht race and vintage yacht race presentations.
There will be plenty of fun for the kids, with a sand castle competition, a pool toy race and a radio-controlled yacht regatta.
Summer is the perfect season for evening racing on Friday 24 January.
It starts at 6pm with the Kies Hardware Dash for Cash at the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club, followed by presentations at 7.45pm.
It’s a hearty start to Saturday 25 January at the club, with the Big Breakfast from 8 to 10am.
The bar opens at 1pm at the Milang Regatta Club, as preparations are made for sailors and spectators alike to enjoy dinner at 6pm.
Sunday 26 January sees the main event, starting at 6am with breakfast at the Milang Regatta Club, followed by big race at 9am.
Presentations will take place at the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club from 7.30pm.
