Saints into the top-five in the Southern Football League

Christies Beach moved inside the top-five after a comprehensive 130-point win against Cove during round 11 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Christies Beach yesterday. ‘Christies’ led by 71 points at halftime, before kicking 10 goals to one in the second half to win 22.16 (148) to 2.6 (18). Jace Daris (6), Alan Singh (5) and Harrison Butcher (4) were the leading goalkickers for the Saints, while Jayden Morton and Blake Harding were the goalkickers for Cove. Best players for Christies Beach included Austin Hogg, Daris, Thomas Paparella, Singh, Butcher and Jonty Murphy. Best for the Cobras included Jackson Riddle, Kyle Stoldt, Antony McWilliams, Harrison Riddle, Alex Marra and Cooper Greening.


Ironbank Cherry Gardens won their third game in a row after defeating Noarlunga by 14 points at Cherry Gardens yesterday. The Thunderers got out the blocks early to lead by 19 points at quarter time. The Shoes worked their way back into the game in the next two quarters to cut the margin to just six points at the last change. Ironbank Cherry Gardens steadied in the last term, kicking two goals to one, to win 6.14 (50) to 4.12 (36). Will Ballestrin was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two majors for the Thunderers, while their best players were Isaac Hoepfl, Tyler Quinn, Chris Morgan, Jake Pokoina, Joshua Brown and Chase Wooley. Noarlunga were best served by Josh Beard, Nick Mott, Terry Kathopoulis, Bradley Gates, Jake Birch and Luke Ross.


Flagstaff Hill avenged their round two loss to Port Noarlunga after defeating the Cockle Divers by a whopping 117 points at Flagstaff Hill yesterday. The Falcons won every quarter on their way to a 22.15 (147) to 5.0 (30) victory. ‘Flaggies’ had 14 different goalkickers with 300-gamer David Kearsley and Sam Tharaldsen kicking three goals each. Nathaniel Paredes and Zac Sproule kicked two goals each for ‘Porties’. Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Brad Kirk, Jordan Etto, Luke Beenham, Sam Smith, Ethan Johnson and Kearsley. Paredes, Tom Dix, Nathan Hedger and Darcy Warman were among the best players for Port Noarlunga.


Happy Valley consolidated their position in the top-four with a comfortable 44-point win against Aldinga yesterday. Happy Valley started well to lead by 35 points at halftime, before winning 10.9 (69) to 3.7 (25). Skipper Harry Vick kicked three goals for the Vikings, while Jayden Scott kicked two goals for the Sharks. Best players for the Vikings were Sam Flett, Max Gill, Vick, Liam Hamilton, Billy Wilson and Dylan Strickland. Angus Stangewitz, Izaih Wortley, Harrison Jarman, Scott O'Dea, Samuel Bentley and Scott were among the best players for Aldinga.


Reynella consolidated their spot in the top-three with a convincing 80-point win against Morphett Vale today. The Wine Flies won every quarter on their way to a 16.12 (108) to 4.4 (28) victory. Patrick Davies (5), Brad Potter (3), Tom Schirmer (2) and Callan Semple (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Reynella, while their best players were Liam Reid, Bradley Potter, Davies, Jack Ball, Talon Copley and Tom Schirmer. Best for the Emus included Jack Dal Santo, Dylan Miller, Michael Smith, Connor Panozzo, Daniel Bode and Max Sampson.
