Saints on top in Southern Football League Women's

Christies Beach are on top of the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s ladder following their 16-point win against Cove on Saturday evening. ‘Christies’ led by five points at halftime, before kicking three goals to one in the second half to win 6.1 (37) to 3.3 (21). Brooke O’Brien (3) and Cadence Bryowsky (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Saints, while Alesia LeDuff kicked two goals for the Cobras. Best players for Christies Beach included Melanie Koster, Tallara Power, Chelsea Salvemini, O’Brien and Cadence Bryowsky. Best for Cove were LeDuff, Tamara Harrison, Jaymie Savaidis, Mikala Graham and Lauren Kenny.


Flagstaff Hill kept in touch with the top-four after a comfortable 104-point victory against Noarlunga yesterday. The Falcons led by 27 points at quarter time, 53 points at halftime, and 73 points at three quarter time, before winning 16.9 (105) to 0.1 (1). Amber Cloughessy kicked seven goals for the Falcons, while Emily Brockhurst kicked four majors. Best players for ‘Flaggies’ included Emma Hodgson, Chloe Meyers, Cloughessy, Jasmin Partridge and Rachel Crockart. Best for the Shoes were Megan Weetra, Elyshia Forrest, Steph Alderman, Febi Mansell and Rikki-Lee Escritt. 


Aldinga celebrated their first win of 2023 with a low-scoring eight-point win against Hackham. The game was tight throughout with the Sharks winning 2.8 (20) to 2.0 (12). Paige Curtin and Cara Fry were the goalkickers for Aldinga, while Claire Wheeler kicked two goals for the Hawks. Olivia Savage, Olivia Cumming, Curtin, Ayla Regione and Nikki Duggan were named best players for Aldinga. For Hackham, Imogen Dwyer, Kristy Thomson, Dakota Dwyer, Nevara Richards and Tiarna Power were named their best players.


Port Noarlunga consolidated their spot in the top-two with a tight two-point win against Reynella at Port Noarlunga yesterday. In a low-scoring affair, ‘Porties’ won 2.0 (12) to 1.4 (10). Jessica Couch and Charli Faulkner were the goalkickers for Port Noarlunga, while Sarah Bourn kicked Reynella’s only goal. Best players for Port Noarlunga included Bree Chapman, Eilish O’Hanlon, Philippa Worthley, Shakira Dolman and Mackenzie O’Dea. Reynella were best served by Anja Bancevic, Indiana Barbour, Morgan Blackwell and Caitlin Williams.
