Western Districts’ quest for back-to-back undefeated premierships is one win away from fruition after they won their way through to the 2025 decider with a comprehensive 111-point win over Wisanger in the second semi-final in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) at Gosse yesterday. The Saints have now won 27 games in a row and look unstoppable for the flag. Yesterday, they led by seven points at quarter time, 34 points at halftime, and 37 points at the last change, before exploding in the last quarter with 12 unanswered goals to win 23.17 (155) to 6.8 (44). Lleyton Hedges (6), Brad Crabb (5) and Sam Jonas (4) were the leading goalkickers for Western Districts, while Ezra Forster, Timmy Turner and Khyal Stead kicked two goals each for the Panthers. Best players for Western Districts included Dylan Lockett, Jonas, Hedges, Josh Graham and Henry Hammat.
Kingscote had an upset 20-point win over Dudley United at Wisanger today to book their spot in next Saturday’s preliminary final. The Hounds led at every change before winning 14.12 (96) to 11.10 (76). Kingscote skipper Paul Green kicked five goals, while Trae Lovering kicked three majors for Dudley United. Best players for the victors included Rory Lovering, Jordan Connell, Thomas Mitchell, Riley Puckridge and James Mitchell. Meanwhile, best for the Eagles were Sam Willson, Toby Wheaton, Lovering, Christopher Denholm and Seb McVann.
