Christies Beach moved inside the top-five after defeating Cove by 34 points during round 5 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Hallett Cove yesterday. The Saints won every quarter on their way to an 18.12 (120) to 13.8 (86) victory. Christies Beach skipper Michael Mazey kicked nine goals in a best-on-ground performance and he was well supported by Sean McIvor who kicked four goals. Ryan Need (4) and Brody Pearce (3) were the major goalkickers for the Cobras. Other good players for ‘Christies’ included Thomas Kirwan, Joshua Semmens, McIvor, Austin Hogg and Harrison Butcher. Best for Cove were Noah Kliems-Carlaw, Brody Pearce, Ty Bastian, Need and Scott Abbott.
Happy Valley won their fourth game on the trot after defeating Noarlunga by 93 points at OId Noarlunga yesterday. The Vikings led by 43 points at halftime, before kicking a further 12 goals to four after the long break to win 21.7 (133) to 6.4 (40). Happy Valley had 13 different goalkickers with Nick Kraemer leading the way with four majors, while Brad Inglis kicked three goals for the Shoes. Happy Valley’s best players were Lachlan Hamilton, Kraemer, Dylan Brown, Cooper Rogers, Joel Beeche and Nicholas Frisby-Smith. Noarlunga was best served by Nick Robertson, Callum Gaspari, Brad Inglis, Luke Ross and Sam Carlyle.
Flagstaff Hill got back on the winners list after a convincing 88-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. Nathan Beenham kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground performance as the Falcons won 26.13 (169) to 11.15 (81). Other good players for ‘Flaggies’ included Aiden Grayson, Jaxon Bennett, Reece Milsom, Michael Shearer and Mitchell Johnson. Jak Goudman-Glasson kicked four goals for the Thunderers, while their best players were Alec Bryars, James Cross, Jacob Campbell, Levi Grigg, Jacob Matheson and Isaac Hoepfl.
Port Noarlunga remained undefeated and top of the ladder after a huge 177-point win against Aldinga yesterday. The Cockle Divers won every quarter on their way to the 28.18 (186) to 1.3 (9) triumph. ‘Porties’ had an amazing 15 different goalkickers with Oliver Petrohilos and Gary Karpany kicking five goals apiece. Brad Cook kicked the only goal for Aldinga. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Oliver Goss, Clinton Calyun, Karpany, Nathaniel Paredes, Darcy Warman and Kyan Smith. Best players for the Sharks included Angus Stangewitz, Izaih Wortley, Blake Florance, Mitchell Jarrett, Zachary Bazzacco and Tom Pilmore.
Reynella had a percentage-boosting 176-point win today over Morphett Vale to move up to second spot on the ladder. Bailey Marshman had an absolute day out for the Wine Flies as he slotted 14 goals in a best-on-ground performance. Marshman now has 30 goals after five games this season as Reynella won 29.20 (194) to 3.0 (18). Other good players for Reynella included Talon Copley, Liam Reid, Mitchell Scotland, William Gregory and Alex Lawley. Best for the Emus were Connor Panozzo, Jack Dal Santo, Connor Lock, Vincent Tassone, Stephen Donal (3 goals) and Lucas Sutton.
